Healthy Homemade Margarine
Healthy and margarine in the same sentence? I know! How could it be so? Well, I ran out of butter, so I made this and it was delish! Make this if you wish butter could be spreadable straight out of the fridge. You don't have to make it vegan either! This is perfect for people who tire of having to keep their butter on the counter, only to lose some of it to rancidity (not to mention it gets sticky on your hands every time you open the package). Or if you have trouble digesting butter or coconut oil, having it cut with "milk" and a monounsaturated fat like olive oil, will make it easier on your system (but also you may want to improve your ability to digest fats by attending to your liver and gallbladder health with these resources or book a private session to discuss your unique health situation).
What you will need:
1/2 cup refined coconut oil/butter/ghee
1/4 cup olive oil (or even MCT oil would work)
1/8 cup almond milk, coconut milk or cream
1/2 tsp Herbamere (you could use plain unrefined sea salt, but Herbamere is the bomb!
1/8 tsp turmeric (for colour)
How to do it:
Step 1: Melt your refined coconut oil/butter/ghee on the stove in a saucepan on the lowest heat.
Step 2: Stir in everything else.
Step 3: Pour into a container (preferably glass, but I re-used a sour cream container to make the photo more authentic to the margarine experience)!
Step 4: Refrigerate.
Enjoy!
