What to do if you are done w/dieting BUT, you still want to lose weight?

There are plenty of people who are done with dieting and have simply embraced being fat.

There is even a whole movement around it called the 'fat acceptance' movement.

It's understandable to me that this movements exists.

I don't agree with it, but I do for certain empathize.

Diet culture is terribly superficial and fat shaming people is completely unacceptable (not to mention ignorant and gross).

But what do you do if you don't align with diet culture, but you STILL do want to lose weight?

That was me almost 10 years ago. 

I was clinically obese, even though I was a 'health nut' on a whole foods vegetarian diet. 

The last thing I wanted to do was start counting calories and living at the gym.

That just wasn't 'me'.

I was a hippy chick who didn't shave or wear make-up. Obsessing about how I looked was simply not interesting to me and I didn't want to put a lot of energy into it.

In my mind, I thought "it shouldn't be that hard to attain and maintain one's ideal weight when there are plenty of people on the planet who do so, without investing any energy into it."

Not to mention, like you, I had no shortage of other interesting things to do and topics to invest my mental energy into.

Whereas, in the far distant past, I cared too much about how I looked. I was obsessed with my weight. I did aerobics, dieted, starved myself, binge ate and the results were that I pretty much always felt "gross and fat".

I didn't want to go back to being that person either - what would be the point? Clearly it didn't work.

So you see, I have been in your shoes and I get it.

You want to lose weight for health and to feel comfortable in your own skin - whatever the reason - you are not trying to become a bathing suit model.

You just want to know what to do that is natural and sustainable and you'll do it.

The solution is education.

If you don't already know what to do to lose weight (other than to diet in the conventional sense: counting calories and exercise), then there are simply gaps in your knowledge.
