Why "eat less, move more" don't work no more.

a pic
It's the height of ignorance to suggest to someone that losing weight is easy, because all you have to do is "eat less and move more".

I say this in defence of fat people.

The reason why is: this mantra is mostly said from a place of arrogance or contempt for fat people.

It is said to 'wake' or shame overweight people into compliance.

While the truth is that the rote repetition of these words without context, does nothing more than shed light on the …

Why you have to get healthy FIRST if you want permanent results with weight loss.

pic

Most people think losing weight will make them healthier, but that is not true. The truth is, the secret to permanent weight loss is turning your focus inward toward your health, and away from weight loss.

The only way weight loss equals health, is if that weight loss is a natural 'good side effect' of doing something that makes you healthier. Many people don't want to explore this, because they don't want to have to question what they believe or have to change anything at all.

And I am not j…

If you already eat healthy, how can you lose weight without dieting?

image

Oh do I know how defeating it is to live inside this question.

I used to be clinically obese despite my healthy whole foods plant based diet.

What's worse is that even with decades of experience behind me as a nutritionist and graduating with honours from 2 of Canada's top holistic nutrition schools - I just could not figure out how it was humanly possible to NOT eat processed junk food or be a sugar addict - and still end up obese anyway!

It took me a year to even decide to do anything about…

65 lbs down and has maintained her results for 11 plus years

The hardest weight to lose is the weight you've carried your whole life.

It's not just about the actual pounds, but about emotional weight and having a self concept as being a fat person - that needs to be shifted and transformed.

When you've been overweight your whole life, it is hard to even imagine that it's possible to be at your ideal weight.

Yes, the journey is longer and there are for certain more obstacles to overcome, but it is well worth the effort because it immediately improves …

4 Reasons Diets Have Failed You

photo-1608111572051-0e7811179f0b

Do you believe losing weight without dieting can work for others, but not for you?

I totally get it.

If you already eat healthy or you've tried every diet under the sun (to no avail), it's easy to think that breakthroughs and miracles only happen to other people.

As an ex-dieter myself and having been obese on a natural whole foods plant based diet, I was once standing in your shoes.

I know what it feels like to have extreme doubts about being able to achieve my ideal weight - without having…

Raw Citrus Cheesecake (dairy free, sugar free)

cashew cheesecake

I love raw food desserts, but don't so much love how much 'inherent' sugar is in them - loads and loads of dates and maple syrup.

This version is made with erythritol (fermented sugar which has no calories and has minimal, if any affect on blood sugar).

On the other hand, just 2 dates have 36 grams of carbs for a total of 9 tsp sugar! Most raw food recipes use much, much more than 2 dates, so they are extremely unnaturally high in carbs - and that's not even counting the maple syrup!

How to …

Chocolate Orange Pudding (sugar free, dairy free)

Chocolate Orange Pudding

What you will need:

2 large ripe avocados (or 3 small)
1/2 cup cocoa powder
the 'watery' part of canned coconut milk (adjust by texture since each can will have different levels of water)
1/3 cup powdered erythritol (more or less depending on your sweet tooth)
1 tsp orange extract
1/8 tsp unrefined salt

How to do it:

Step 1: Chop avocado.
Step 2: Place all ingredients into a food processor (except coconut water).
Step 3: Start processing and slowly add coconut water until blended into smooth pudding textu…

Stuck with your own weight as a health practitioner?

Most clients state that one of their goals is to lose weight, but are you confident that you can help them with that?

Do you often find yourself struggling with clients whose weight won't budge, even though they are eating healthy and exercising?

Or maybe you are even be struggling with your own weight - which feels completely out of alignment with being an example for others.

I've certainly been in that boat myself.

In fact I actually crossed the threshold from overweight to becoming clini…

Fancy yourself 'above' weight loss?

beautiful landscape with Sherry
Some holistic nutritionists and health coaches I speak to are interested in weight loss physiology for personal and professional reasons, but choose not to enter the niche to avoid disapproval from their peers.

They think that they will be perceived as shallow and lumped in with all the fad diet experts who design temporary plans based on the calorie theory of weight loss.

It's true, specializing in weight loss can be shallow, but that doesn't mean that you should throw the baby out wit…

Want to join a movement to help people lose weight without dieting?

The general public still think they need to count calories, cut portion sizes, avoid fat and exercise hard to burn calories.

Basically they are doing everything that doesn’t work over and over -  only to get temporary or zero results.

What’s worse is that they end up gaining more extra rebound weight than they initially started with.

Why? Because ‘dieting’ in the conventional sense only serves to …
